There was some very friendly chipmunks that came right up to your fingers. This one was particularly curious about the iPhone. I suspect he wondered if this was some sort of new food storage device, but upon not being able to operate it, he scrambled away in search of easier fare.
There was a good amount of door opening too, as we repeatedly convinced ourselves that we just had to see this one last thing before moving on.
As with any new place, you imagine new types of life: plant, animal, or otherwise. This, however, was unexpected. For anyone who loves dandelion puffs, (and I honestly can't imagine anyone who has found their way to our blog doesn't), feast your eyes on these. The size of tennis balls, these delicate globes floated above the fields like scattered, tiny aftermaths of dying stars.
And thus, like true scientists, our sample collection began.

Wonderful! I love the dandelion puffs! As I recall, the squirrels and chipmunks at barr camp are also very friendly - they ate nuts out of our hands. Give it a shot when you get there, and don't worry about "feeding the wildlife:" at this point one more person feeding them is just a drop in the bucket.
